What Venus Retrograde is + why this one matters for October / November
Venus Retrograde is coming, and this is one of those astrological transits I actually think is worth paying attention to.
Not because something dramatic is necessarily going to happen, but because Venus Retrograde gives us a really interesting window of time to slow down, reflect and reconsider the areas of life that Venus represents: love, relationships, money, beauty, creativity, pleasure, value and self-worth.
Venus only goes retrograde roughly every 18 months, so this isn't an energy we experience all the time.
In 2026, Venus will retrograde from October 3rd to November 13th, beginning in Scorpio before moving backwards into Libra.
And honestly… these two signs tell us a LOT about the kind of reflection this retrograde is bringing.

For now, let's look at what Venus Retrograde actually means and what you might notice during this period.
What Is Venus Retrograde?
A retrograde is when a planet appears to move backwards through the sky from our perspective here on Earth.
Astrologically, we associate retrogrades with periods where the energy of that planet becomes more internalised, reflective and subject to re-evaluation.
Rather than simply moving forward with the usual expression of that planet, we are being encouraged to slow down and actually look at what is happening.
With Venus, this brings our attention towards things like:
Love and relationships
Attraction and intimacy
Money and finances
Receiving and giving
Creativity
Beauty and aesthetics
Pleasure
Self-worth
What we value
What we feel worthy of having
Venus Retrograde DATES FOR 2026:
October 3 – November 13
The 2026 Venus Retrograde begins on October 3rd in Scorpio and eventually moves back into Libra on October 25th, before Venus stations direct again on November 13th.
This movement between Scorpio and Libra is really interesting because these signs bring two very different expressions of Venus into the conversation.
Venus Retrograde in Scorpio MEANING:
Venus in Scorpio isn't interested in staying on the surface by ANY means hahahahah.
Scorpio takes us into:
Intimacy
Trust
Vulnerability
Attachment
Shared resources
Sexuality
Power
Control
Emotional depth
Transformation
So the beginning of this retrograde can be a really interesting time to notice what is happening underneath the obvious story.
You might start asking:
Where am I giving my power away?
What am I afraid to admit that I actually want?
Where am I trying to control an outcome because I don't feel safe enough to surrender?
Do I actually feel safe being vulnerable?
Scorpio also connects Venus to questions around shared money, financial security, trust, attachment and worth….
Then Venus Moves Back Into Libra:
On October 25th, Venus moves back into Libra, the sign she rules, and the conversation starts to change as we move here, after going down into the depths of Scorpio, we begin bringing that information back into our relationships.
Libra asks us to look at:
Partnership
Communication
Reciprocity
Balance
Compromise
Connection
Harmony
How we show up with other people
This can be a really important time to look at where you might be:
Over-giving
Under-receiving
Keeping the peace
Compromising yourself
Avoiding an honest conversation
Prioritising connection over your own needs
Libra is often associated with harmony, but Venus Retrograde isn't necessarily interested in fake harmony.
Sometimes creating a more honest relationship requires us to actually say what we want which can feel like a CAT has our tongue by the way so this is a good practise.
How To Work With Venus Retrograde:
A few simple ways you could work with Venus Retrograde:
Review your finances without judgement.
Pay attention to recurring relationship patterns.
Notice where you are over-giving.
Notice where you struggle to receive.
Revisit creative ideas you've abandoned.
Allow yourself to reconsider what you actually like.
Spend time thinking about what makes you feel secure.
Ask yourself what you genuinely value now.
Give yourself permission to change your mind.
Don't rush to force clarity.
And perhaps most importantly, don't assume that uncertainty means something is wrong, sometimes you are simply in the middle of understanding what has changed.

What kind of relationships do I genuinely want?

Where am I looking for security outside of myself?
